Metric Diophantine Approximation for Systems of Linear Forms via Dynamics
The goal of this paper is to generalize the main results of [KM1] and subsequent papers on metric Diophantine approximation with dependent quantities to the set-up of systems of linear forms. In particular, we establish ‘joint strong extremality’ of arbitrary finite collection of smooth nondegenerate submanifolds of R. The proofs are based on quantitative nondivergence estimates for quasi-polyn...
متن کاملApplications of quadratic D-forms to generalized quadratic forms
In this paper, we study generalized quadratic forms over a division algebra with involution of the first kind in characteristic two. For this, we associate to every generalized quadratic from a quadratic form on its underlying vector space. It is shown that this form determines the isotropy behavior and the isometry class of generalized quadratic forms.
متن کاملClassical metric Diophantine approximation revisited
The idea of using measure theoretic concepts to investigate the size of number theoretic sets, originating with E. Borel, has been used for nearly a century. It has led to the development of the theory of metrical Diophantine approximation, a branch of Number Theory which draws on a rich and broad variety of mathematics. We discuss some recent progress and open problems concerning this classica...

Let pn qn pn qn x denote the nth simple continued fraction convergent to an arbitrary irrational number x De ne the sequence of approximation constants n x q njx pn qnj It was conjectured by Lenstra that for almost all x lim n n jfj j n and j x zgj F z where F z z log if z and log z log z if z This was proved in BJW and extended in Nai to the same conclusion for kj x where kj is a sequence of p...
متن کاملInvariance Principles in Metric Diophantine Approximation
In [7], LeVeque proved a central limit theorem for the number of solutions p, q of ∣∣∣∣x− pq ∣∣∣∣ ≤ f(log q) q2 subjected to the following conditions 0 < q ≤ n, (p, q) ≤ d, where x ∈ [0, 1] and f satisfies certain assumptions. The case d = 1 was considerably improved a few years later by Philipp [8]. We give a common extension of both results by proving almost sure and distribution type invaria...
